We now return to our previously scheduled life, already in progress.

We have decided to hang out in Mira Mesa for at least another day, waiting for the water service to be restored. It might take most of the weekend to get service working in all areas of Ramona.
Try to imagine a high energy 75 pound dog that is used to daily multiple mile hikes in the trails and canyons, and coop him up in a house for a week. Ready to go home? It’s been almost a week. Yeah, we’re ready.
The road blocks to Ramona are being removed and residents may return home. However, all those connected to the Ramona Municipal Water District cannot use any municipal water. No showers, no flushing toilets, no water from the sink, no washing houses or cars with a hose. Residents must use the 300 portable toilets being delivered to the area, and must drink bottled water.
I’m sure the decision to let residents return is in part fueled by the frustrated many who have their own wells. They were being kept out of the area because of the those who ignored the mandatory evacuation and continue to use municipal water as the water system is being brought back online.
I’m am off to pick up Suzanne from the airport momentarily. We will wait until tomorrow to return home.
Due to lack of water pressure, a full evacuation of Ramona is still in effect. No word on when we will be able to return. If you didn’t know devastating wild fires were still burning in San Diego, you would think it’s a normal beautiful fall day. The ash level is very low, at least in the San Diego Country Estates, since the winds pushed everything west. Compared to the Cedar fire, our area is essentially untouched.
Police and National Guard are actively patrolling Ramona and the Estates. No looting has been reported in the Estates.
President Bush just arrived at MCAS Miramar, which is only a couple miles away from my evacuation location in Mira Mesa.
On a more personal note: Suzanne is on a flight right now heading toward the U.S. She will be back in San Diego later this evening.
Just heard a fireman being interviewed by phone on the news say there may be a new flare up on Old Julian Highway. This is due north of the San Diego Country Estates, and is the general area where the Witch fire started. Unconfirmed information at this point, but doesn’t bode well for being able to return to Ramona very soon.
Additionally, water has been turned off again. Seems people who ignored the mandatory evacuation were starting to wash cars and houses, which was taking away from the ability to use water for fighting fires.
Less water + more fire != good time
Hmm, I’m starting to use pseudocode in posts. I really need more sleep.
